The HBGTP Bursary

22 August, 2023

Being a trainee on the Historic & Botanic Garden Training Programme (HBGTP) offers a number of benefits during a 12-month placement.

Trainees receive first-class training from professional teams in a variety of beautiful British gardens, to read more about our placement gardens click here. Trainees also benefit from an autumn Seminar and a summer Study Tour, both of which are all expenses paid. They also receive a travel and training bursary of up to £500.

The bursary enables trainees to complete various horticulture courses that will aid their training and future careers, as well as giving them the opportunity to visit other historic and botanic gardens.

One of our trainees, Genevieve, has recently returned from Germany where she visited a number of interesting gardens, thanks to the HBGTP bursary. To read more about the gardens she visited, and her experiences please click here.

Pictured below is trainee Aaron who used some of his bursary to visit The Lost Garden of Heligan in Cornwall.
