Working in parks Across the city of Cardiff joining each specific team, the trainee would gain experience of formal gardens, rose gardens (including propagation, identification and pruning), herbaceous borders (including pruning division, staking, display etc.), and hedging. Also opportunities, if required in informal parks, gardens and open space management and maintenance, restoration and historical elements (Bute Park Restoration Project on-going).
Cardiff Council Parks could also offer experience in;

• Working for a large organisation and in a wide variety of open spaces
We currently host four Apprenticeships within the service. The Apprentices take part in fortnightly in-house identification sessions and are taken on regular visits to other parks and gardens. We have also hosted an HHSS placement for the last year. This student was placed in the same team as the Parks Apprentices and this proved successful in terms of learning, development and support.
The Trainee will be on annualised hours – In the summer they will work 41 hours a week and in the winter 32 hours a week.
Holiday entitlement is 25 days a year. The student will be on a manual scale, Grade 3. 2 month probation. Accommodation is not included.
