HBGTP Spring Update

Now that applications for 2025-26 trainee placements are closed, we’d like to thank everyone who applied and expressed an interest in the HBGTP! The HBGTP team are now busy sifting through an unprecedented number of applications received for this years’ cohort. Interviews will be taking place in May at the various placement gardens.

We are now accepting placement garden applications for 2026-27 traineeships commencing in September 2026. Each year we look for outstanding historic and botanic gardens to join us in hosting a HBGTP trainee. A bursary of almost £9,000 towards the cost of a trainee salary is offered to eligible gardens. We are welcoming applications until the 1st December 2025.

Meanwhile, the clocks have gone forward and signs of spring are finally here. The HBGTP trainees are busy planting and preparing flower beds and borders as they welcome in the new season, and our placement gardens are coming to life with an array of colours.
