Trainee Seminar 2023

31 October, 2023

This year’s HBGTP Trainee Seminar was held in West Sussex, in partnership with the Professional Gardeners Guild (PGG).

Over 40 trainees and apprentices attended, enjoying 4 action packed days visiting gardens, listening to talks and taking part in group activities and discussions.

Despite the weather, the trainees were able to explore the following gardens:

Representatives from each garden kindly met with the trainees to provide guided tours and detailed talks. Presentations were also given by Sarah Wain (previously from West Dean Gardens), Dr Ken Thompson (Ecologist), Katie Mackinder and Joseph Peatfield (PGG) and Michael Walker (National Garden Specialist).

A big thank you to all the industry professionals who gave us their time and to the garden teams who welcomed us so warmly. Thanks also to the Lodge Hill Centre in West Sussex, for providing the accommodation.
