HBGTP Study Tour 2023

18 July, 2023

This years HBGTP Study Tour was located around the Cheshire area. Our current trainees spent the weekend visiting a number of beautiful gardens, meeting Head Gardeners and other professionals in the industry.

The study tour was kindly funded by The Royal Horticulture Society. The gardens visited included:

Highlights from the weekend included a tour of the 100-year-old Japanese Garden at Tatton Park, visiting ‘The Dell’ at the National Trust Bodnant Garden, receiving a presentation from the Head of Gardens at Ness Botanic Gardens, and finally exploring the Chinese Garden, and Walled Garden sections at RHS Garden Bridgewater.

Trainees had the opportunity to ask questions of Head Gardeners and garden guides, and to exchange ideas and information, as well as planning for their future careers.

Thank you to all of the gardens staff who welcomed us and accommodated us, and to the Waterside Hotel in Warrington, for providing excellent hospitality.
