Study Tour to the Midlands

We recently took our 10 current HBGTP trainees on a weekend tour of gardens in the West Midlands. Accommodation was provided by Pershore Horticultural College. Gardens visited included:
Sezincote
Kenilworth Castle
Ryton Organic Gardens
Hanbury Hall
Hidcote
Kiftsgate

The sites included National Trust, English Heritage and privately-owned gardens, ranging from a re-created Elizabethan garden at Kenilworth to an Indian-influenced garden at Sezincote.

Trainees had the opportunity to ask questions of Head Gardeners and garden guides, and to exchange ideas and information, as well as planning for their future careers.

Thanks to all of the gardens staff who welcomed us and showed us around, and to the Angel Hotel, Pershore, for providing excellent food.
