Recently, one of our trainees, Julie Fairhurst, has taken on the task of updating the mapping and recording of the National Collection of Magnolia at Bodnant Gardens in North West Wales. Equipped with a GPS device and the most recent survey from 1997, Julie set about checking ID tags against the garden’s existing database. This year the National Trust will be transferring their plant records to IrisBG software, which records and tracks the movements of plants around its sites. The work that Julie has carried out will be invaluable to this process.
