Trainee Seminar 2016

20 October, 2016

The 10th Trainee Seminar was held in West Sussex at Dunford House at the start of October. Over 40 trainees attended.

This is a joint seminar with ourselves (HBGTP) and the Professional Gardeners’ Guild. This year we welcomed other trainees from a broad range of traineeships including the MacRobert Trust and the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

It was a mixed programme of garden visits, practical exercises (tree planting), presentations, experts panel discussions (Leigh Hunt from the RHS and Neil Hellier from Fargro), taxonomy coaching, and targeted discussions (on plant record management and funding for travel scholarships).

The seminar is a marvelous experience for trainees just starting out on their careers. It provides an opportunity for networking, to explore topics, and prompt useful opportunities for visits to each others’ gardens.
